SolidWorks 2013 Sneak Peek!

One of the SolidWorks 2013 Sneak Peek Features from the SolidWorks Blog…

In SolidWorks 2013, you can exclude selected components in Interference Detection. You can filter components with matching cosmetic threads from Interference Detection results and place them in a separate folder. You can exclude interferences involving hidden components, as well as exclude selected components from Interference Detection results. Optionally, you can specify to remember components to exclude from session to session. This video shows how this applies to cosmetic threads.

Free 3DVIA Composer Lunch & Learn in Tulsa & Oklahoma City

3DVIA Composer is a whole new way of creating documentation!

As a product designer or engineer, do you:

  • Create exploded and detailed view images for use in product documentation?
  • Waste hours updating documents every time there is a design change?
  • Wish there was a way to re-use your existing 3D CAD data to quickly and easily create product documentation, assembly instructions and animations?

3DVIA Composer can help. 3DVIA Composer automatically updates design changes from 3D CAD models into your documentation, keeping it accurate and continuously up-to-date.

This helps illustrators and writers create high-quality 3D images and animations, and frees up engineers to do what you do best – design innovative new products.  Learn more about 3DVIA at one of our upcoming events.

FEA?? “Finite Element Analysis” What does it mean to you?

In a perfect world, nothing would ever break, fall apart, overheat, buckle, or be destroyed… Unless we wanted it to when we’re ready to recycle it. However, this isn’t a perfect world, and I don’t have the same hairline I did when I was 25, so some things do fail at times when we don’t want them to!

So, what to do? Toupee or not Toupee? Well, unless you over engineer like in the “olden day’s” (as my 7 year old says) then you will have “To Pay” for failed product in the field and apologize to your customers for these failures.

If that’s the case, what’s the current process when over engineering? Do plenty of physical prototyping to make sure “our stuff works!”. However, this is very costly and time consuming to say the least. That is why more and more companies (even small companies today) are incorporating the use of FEA software to reduce the number of physical prototypes required to get closer to a reliable yet cost effective product.

So, what can you do to take the first step towards learning more about FEA?

Come to a short Seminar at EngATech in two weeks, on April 28th, from 11:30am -1pm, so you can learn more about the FEA tool integrated with SolidWorks (SolidWorks Simulation) and how you can experience of the benefits of FEA at your company. In addition, you’ll get a free Rib Crib lunch while you’re here!  Click Here to Sign up Today.
